I'm trying to think of something different than the traditional silver knife. We're both into home improvement (so I've thought of things like a Roto-zip or a drywall saw - haha), and we're both also antique car nuts. wedding rings . (we have 8 classic cars between us)Can you think of anything unusual we can cut the cake with that has to do with cars, antiques, or home improvement? Thanks!

The first thing that came to mind was a chainsaw, but then I saw THAT going terribly, TERRIBLY wrong!

How about a reciprocating saw? Unplugged of course!

For a car, you could use a license plate, I guess. Or a mirror.

But frankly, all of these things just seem too off-the-wall, even for me!

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Sweet Jesus. Nobody wants to see your creativity, they just want you to get the cake cut so they can leave the reception where they have been trapped for 2.5 hours. Cut the cake, get it over with.

Ha, first thing that came to my mind was chainsaw too! Well, I think TB is right (if a bit…abrupt). Maybe you can find a fancy knife with an antique car on the handle or something, but if it was my wedding (and, granted, it’s not) I wouldn’t make this a huge issue. The cake is the focal point, not how you cut it.

What about a trowel with a ribbon tied around it? That would be cute and reflect your love of home improvement :-)

Hmmm, I’m not sure about this. A wedding is supposed to be elegant and the cutting of the cake is all about tradition. I would leave your hobbies out of it.

  8. This is an excellent article . I enjoyed reading it and am likely to reread it again soon so I can revisit some of the points that I want to consider.
